So I was spotting over the weekend and ended up needing to go to the doctor. There were some tense moments when the doctor couldn't find the heartbeat, but eventually there it was, beating strong. And the baby was still moving around like crazy. We've got such an active one on our hands!
I hated that feeling of increasing anxiety and not having any way of knowing whether the baby was okay or not. I didn't want to call anyone about it because there was nothing anyone could do if things were not going well and they couldn't really offer me much reassurance if things were going well. So I just sat at home worrying myself. But the good news is all is well.
I don't have any other real updates. I'm finally getting my hair done since I'm basically out of the first trimester and we've both seen and heard the heartbeat. It has gotten uncomfortable to sleep on my stomach for some reason - it's not that the baby is poking out or anything. But it just doesn't feel good. And laying on my back for a long period of time feels like my stomach is stretching. Plus I know it's not good for me lay on my back, so I try not to. This means a lot of side sleeping and laying down propped up so as not to be completely on my back.
I'm thankful for: A healthy baby. Those few minutes before I heard the heartbeat were so scary. But now I know Baby Lua is really a trooper.

Heartbeat!!
We finally heard Baby Lua's heartbeat! The doctor didn't measure how fast it was beating, but we definitely heard it. The NT scan went well - measurements were will within limits. Now I just have to wait for the results of the blood test and the first part of the sequential screening is finished.
I am not feeling awesome. I had a little spotting, but I think it's because I went to the gym now that I'm done with my RE (Yes!!). Here's the ultrasound from that appointment. There won't be anymore Baby Lua pics until the big 20 week ultrasound. So sad...
I'm thankful for: Having a beautiful baby with a strong healthy heartbeat. It was so amazing to hear it the first time!!

11w5d - seriously?
Baby Lua measured 11w5d at 10w6d! That's a lot of growth since last week. 50.6mm or about 2 inches long.
And guess what...the baby was moving!
I'm thankful for: A wiggly little boy or girl. Seeing Baby Lua move was awesome.

Checking in
I don't have a lot to catch up on, but I wanted to say "hi". I have still been vomiting once or twice a day, but I do feel like I am getting better. The fatigue is still there, but that's okay.
We have a big appointment on Thursday as well as one on Friday. Thursday is the Nuchal Translucency and second OB visit. Friday is our last visit with our RE (and our last weekly ultrasound).
Wow - I didn't even post the picture from our ultrasound last week. I'll do that now!

Another sleepy AM
Sometimes the mornings are the hardest. I'm pretty sleepy right now, even though I did get about 7 hours of rest. I know it's less than I normally need, but I would think it would be enough that I wouldn't be yawning every 5 minutes. But I am, so I may try to sneak in a quick 15 minute nap when I'm done with this entry.
Baby Lua and I are doing well. We have our moments - like the sudden gagging and retching which happens out of the blue if I don't eat every three hours or so. But overall, I do feel pretty good. I'm excited about getting so close the the second trimester at the end of the month. A lot of cool stuff happens between weeks 15 and 20, so I'm looking forward to that.
I'm thankful for: Not freaking out. Sometimes I can get pretty nutty about stuff, but I seem to be taking it all in stride right now...

10 weeks!
Here's Baby Lua at 10 weeks (measuring 10w1d @33.2mm):
I'm hoping that this week is the start of my feeling better. I pretty tired of being tired and nauseous. But things are looking good so far today!
I'm thankful for: Being in the double digit weeks. We're 25% of the way there!

First OB Visit
Okay, I'm giving in. Our new expected due date is February 3, 2011!
We went to see the doctor today. It was pretty uneventful. These visits won't be as exciting as the visits with the RE because we won't be seeing the baby or anything. But I will get to give blood and urine, so I guess that's something. It also feels like I've graduated to the real doctor now, so that's a good feeling. My blood pressure was good, I got my annual pap smear, etc. All pretty standard. I asked a few questions, and other than that, it was pretty boring.
But I'm one day closer to meeting Baby Lua, so that's good news!
